Good to know
What FuelSum does, and what it doesn't.
FuelSum is built to be quick, but it helps to know how it works. The full details are in our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
- Some stations may be missed. The station file comes from a public map and may miss some stations. If FuelSum does not ask you after a refuel, add the amount with Add fuel so your total stays correct.
- A reminder is a question, not a receipt. Station recognition uses location and can be delayed, missed or triggered when you didn't buy fuel. If you stopped without refuelling, tap No fuel.
- Your records stay on your phone. FuelSum doesn't upload your fuel history or your GPS position. There's no account and no cloud copy, so export anything you need before changing phones.
- Check what you enter. Totals are only as accurate as the amounts you type. FuelSum isn't a substitute for receipts or tax and accounting advice.
- Location is your choice. You can add fuel by hand without location. Turn station recognition off in the app, or remove location access in your phone's settings.
- No ads, no tracking. FuelSum has no advertising, analytics or tracking, and we don't sell personal data.
FAQ
Questions people ask.
Why does FuelSum use my location?
To notice when you're at a fuel station and send you a reminder to add the amount. Matching happens on your phone, and your position isn't sent to us. You can still add fuel by hand without location.
What if I stopped but didn't refuel?
Simple. Tap No fuel and you're done.
Can I add a refuel myself?
Yes. Tap Add fuel and type the amount. A manual entry saves the amount, date and time, but not the station name or address, because FuelSum only knows the station when it recognises your stop.
Do I need an account?
No. There's no sign-up, username or password. Your subscription is linked to the Google Play or App Store account you already use, and your fuel history is stored on your phone.
What happens when I change phones?
Your records are stored only on your phone, so export them before you switch. To keep your subscription, open FuelSum on the new phone and tap Restore purchases.
